Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!

This morning Georgetown announced that 1940 alum and former regent Robert L. McDevitt, bequeathed $75 million dollars to Georgetown! You can read about it in the campus paper 'The Hoya' and in the Washington Post.

Mr. McDevitt's donation from his passing last September is 2.5 times the largest donation in Georgetown history The old record is $30 mil from Robert Emmett McDonough, who has the gym and the business school named after him. Although a portion of the money is to be directed towards endowing faculty positions, with specialties in religion, Catholicism, science, and technology. I am sure something on campus will get named for him... I don't know maybe the new business building or science buildings ... or maybe the entire campus.

Perhaps the University will actually reinstate work on the $100 mil science building they put on hold because of the volatility of the capital markets and the need to borrow $50 mil. Oh how much fun it would be to refer to this new building as "I'm going to MickeyD's for class." Not like I'd be here anyways...hehehe.

On a serious note, as a student I thank you Mr. McDevitt. And so do my parents, perhaps GTown will let up on the fundraising calls, as a result.
