Classes are officially over! Yeah!!! I had to give my speech today instead of yesterday, as we ran out of time in class, and had a nice chat about me being tone deaf afterwards (a problem if you are speaking Chinese). I don't know how many times she corrected my pronuciation of the word for government... my tone was wrong on the fu part of zhengfu.... oh well it's done.
I spent the rest of the afternoon restringing the lights onto my Christmas tree... come on folks, I know I can be OCD, but I am not that OCD. The string of lights on the top 3rd of the tree would not light for some reason. Before the break I changed the fuses and replaced every light bulb, who knows what was wrong. But amazing enough there was a warantee on the tree so they mailed me a new string of lights... it looks decent enought but it took about an hour and a half! Yikes, I caught up on my tv shows so it wasn't all bad. I then proceeded to put up my ornaments. So our tree is all lit and happy now! Quite the production though. But alas... Tada!
In celebration of classes being complete. Last night we (me and two of my bestesty friends) went to the National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony at the White House. Most of it was sorta cheesey, it would have been better if they hadn't been trying to buildup the anticipation for Santa's arrival. The highlights... the fact that the President rode in his car the several hundred feet from the White House to the stage at the eclipse. That and when he finally got up to speak, he never said anything more than a laundry list of thank yous.... the entire thing was worth it when the button was pressed and the tree was lit. That and the carols at the end. I had forgotten how much fun it was to sing carols... so was it worth camping out for the tickets... the jury is still out.
Which has me thinking about my favorite Christmas songs... I have been playing Steven Curtis Chapman's "All I Want for Christmas" album for the last week or so... and it is good... but my favorite songs are "Go Tell it on the Mountain" (as sung by Karen Vanderwhite) and "We Three Kings (of Orient are)." Both of which I discovered during my years of Christmas Productions as a teenager.
So alas, it is time to say that the holiday time is finally here.
